Smiling through September at Exemplar Health Care

To celebrate World Smile Day, we’re taking a look back at some of the things that have made our residents and colleagues smile throughout the month.

This blog shares a roundup of what we’ve been up to throughout September.

Celebrating Summer

Some of our homes decided to celebrate what was left of Summer by throwing a Summer Fair for colleagues, residents and their families to enjoy.

Longley Park View care home in Sheffield filled a tombola with some amazing prizes and held stalls in the car park where local businesses could set up too.

They also had a food stall, which was run by two colleagues from Longley Park View to raise money for the Pakistan Floods relief.

Farzana Aslam, Health Care Assistant, said: “After seeing what has happened in Pakistan I decided that the money I was going to raise at the Summer Fair was to go to the help the families in Pakistan after the terrible floods that they have had. Pakistan is dear to my heart and I have friends and family over there. It is sad to see the children, especially, on TV knowing that they have no food or clean water and clothes.”

MeadowcroftEastlands and Pathways care homes in Sutton-in-Ashfield came together to hold a Summer Pride fair which was attended by residents, colleagues and their families.

Dearnevale care home in Barnsley also held a Summer fair which was the first time that they had opened the home for an event since the coronavirus pandemic.

Walk for Alzheimer’s with Otterburn

Service users and health care workers in charity run

Colleagues and residents from our Otterburn care home in Birmingham took part in a 3.5km walk to raise money for a charity close to their hearts.

Staff supported residents to make it around the 3.5km track and turned up in style with holographic glitter tattoos and tied coloured ribbons to wheelchairs to make a statement!

They finished the walk by celebrating with coloured powder paints and silly string. Our residents had a brilliant day but so did our colleagues.
