Colleagues and residents across Exemplar Health Care celebrated the festive season in style throughout December, including preparing for and celebrating Christmas, World Cup celebrations and ringing the New Year in together.
This blog shares some of our favourite stories and photos from December 2022.
Dressing up for the occasion
December was filled with many Christmas visitors alongside Santa this year, including a life-size ‘Elf on the shelf’ at our Thames House care home in Rochdale.
Ribble View care home in Preston, Lancashire, had an early visit from Father Christmas, Rudolf and Jack Frost who brought lots of laughter and joy to residents in the home.
Neville Court in Barnsley hosted ‘Elf Day’ to raise money for the Alzheimer’s disease charity.
World Cup fever
Over November and December, the World Cup had everyone glued to their TV’s and decorating our homes with the St George’s flag.
To celebrate the 22nd edition of the World Cup, we held a World Cup sweepstake for service users and colleagues.
Congratulations to the team at Greenside Court in Rotherham, who drew Argentina in the sweepstake.
Out and about in the community
Many say that Christmas is all about community. During the festive season, we enjoyed lots of trips out to get in the Christmas spirit.
Residents and colleagues from St Andrew’s Court had a lovely afternoon out at Southwood Garden Centre to see the Christmas displays, before enjoying e a cup of tea and mince pie in the cafe.
The team from Copperfields accompanied residents to Leeds city centre to see a local choir singing festive songs. Activities Co-ordinator, Jessica, said: “We all got into the festive spirit with some good food and dancing!”
The season of good will
Colleagues at Neville Court care home in Barnsley collected food and items for the homeless over December, which they donated to Barnsley Foodbank.
At St Andrew’s Court care home in Hull colleagues and residents donated items and wrapped eight Christmas filled shoe boxes for Help the Aged. One of our residents at the home, John, helped to deliver them in his local community.
