Welcome to Kavanagh Place

Kavanagh Place has a reputation for providing high quality care for individuals living with varying complex health needs. A welcoming, modern and person-centred home, Kavanagh Place aims to make every day better for its service users.

The team within the 40-bed home, build care and activity plans around service users, centred around their needs. Working with families, professionals and service users themselves, achievable goals can be identified.

Our home

Service users live in four 10-bed units, each having been developed to support specific conditions and include a dining room, snack kitchen and two lounges. We encourage bedrooms to be decorated to personal tastes - after all, it is a service users personal space. Each room is fitted with TV and telephone points, and have an accessible ensuite wet room.

In-house clinics are held on a regular basis, with NHS specialist neurological nurses. Hosting such clinics are an excellent way to prevent disruption to a service users routine, and provide expert consultations in a familiar environment.

Kavanagh Place also has a full time physiotherapist and physiotherapy assistant, who work with service users to increase their independence and achieve their rehabilitation goals.

Life at Kavanagh Place

A healthy, balanced way of life is actively encouraged within our home. Activity staff work with one another, and service users, to create meaningful group and individual plans.

Access to education and volunteering efforts are facilitated, where possible, for those who wish to develop their skills further. Regular forums allow service users, staff, friends and family to suggest ideas for future activities and their views. Outings to nearby Stanley Park, the theatre and community functions such as the Dementia Choir are a regular occurance. Access to a private minibus ensures transport is always available to facilitate these outings.

The landscaped garden is popular with service users, to relax and enjoy the scenery. For those who wish to participate in a spot of gardening, we have a greenhouse and raised flower beds for potting and tending to plant life.

The open door policy ensures friends and family are welcome to visit the home at any time. We encourage loved ones to be involved in assiting us to provide the best possible quality of care for our service users

Kavanagh Place also offers respite care placements.
