Exemplar Health Care celebrate Pride Month

Pride Month is celebrated every year throughout the month of June and people who live and work at Exemplar Health Care love to get involved!

Wheldale Heights organised a cupcake sale and dressed up to raise over £70 for a Pride charity.

A lovely Pride display was created at Otterburn with all the colours of the flag and they enjoyed a Pride party filled with cocktails, glitter tattoos and powder paint.

Dearnevale came together to celebrate Pride Month by hosting a BBQ with their family and friends, read about what they got up to here.

There was a double celebration at Fairwinds as they celebrated resident Diane’s birthday at their Pride party.

Maypole Grove hosted their own Pride party, where they took part in karaoke, dancing and enjoyed some good food together.

Senior Health Care Assistant Steven made an amazing ‘Love is love’ sign to display at Edgewater.

Longley Park View held LGBTQIA+ bingo where they had rainbow coloured prizes and treats on offer!

Ferham House held a Pride party where they celebrated Pride with colleagues from Central Services. They shared, “We wanted to show support and our solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community this Pride Month.

“We explored why Pride is important in the workplace and looked at the history of Pride.

“Pride is about being proud of who you are and not being discriminated for your race, nationality, religion, gender or sexual orientation. It’s in line with our values of teamwork to be accepting of everyone, which is why it’s so important we are celebrating this.”

Making memories and going on adventures

Residents and colleagues have been taking lots of trips out throughout June, from going to the seaside to celebrating the 25th anniversary of Download Festival.

Alex from Havenmere care home in Immingham, Lincolnshire, recently visited Download Festival for the weekend accompanied by Health Care Assistant, Sharon, and Care Practitioner, Amy.

Alex shared, “I go to Download Festival to see all my friends and I only see most of these friends for these five days as we all live in different parts of the UK, plus listening to all the amazing bands.

“I had the time of my life there, I felt I could leave all my worries at the door and have the best time and seeing my friends, not over FaceTime. It was fantastic we had so much fun head banging, singing our hearts out and catching up with everyone was just beyond words.

“If it wasn't for the carers taking me I wouldn't be able to go and have the amazing time I did.

“They looked after me so well and words would never explain how thankful I am.”

Claire and Jacqueline from Thames House in Rochdale enjoyed a holiday to Calvert Trust where they took part in many activities including canoeing, bike riding and a zip wire!

Paul from Greenside Court used to spend a lot of time with his brother going on holidays and out walking.

Both Paul and his brother have really missed this, so the team at Greenside Court organised a day out for them both and went to Cleethorpes.

They both had a brilliant day and said how lovely it had been to spend time with each other.

Keeping cool in the sunshine

The sun has been shining and we’ve been making the most of it across our homes at Exemplar Health Care.

Both teams at Bennett Court and Willowbeck decided to have some fun whilst keeping cool by organising some water fights in the gardens.

Alison, Life Skills Co-ordinator at Bennett Court shared, “I've not laughed so much for a long time, it was lovely to see all our residents joining in!”
