Since our last update, our Service User Ambassadors have been busy taking centre stage at Nursing Live, presenting their experiences at the Clinical Nurse Manager forum, and co-producing projects and improvements across and the organisation.

Here are the updates from their recent meetings and events.

Sharing stories across the UK

Ambassadors Alex and Dave inspired a packed-out theatre of Nurses, sharing their lived experiences and passion for their Ambassador roles at Nursing Live, hosted at the NEC in Birmingham.

Fellow Ambassadors, Pat, Leanne, and Abi also attended the event to support their friends on stage.

Adam, Alex, Leanne, and Sarah also presented at the Clinical Nurse Manager Forum, sharing their insights into what life in our homes is like, and answering questions such as “What’s it like being cared for by Exemplar Health Care?”

Bringing positive behaviour support training to life

Regional Service User Ambassadors have been working with the Behaviour Support Team to update training materials for Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support (EPBS) training .

Their aim is to create person-centred training by incorporating video content, in collaboration with people living in our homes.

The updated training will be rolled out regionally with Ambassador support.

Ambassadors are also gearing up to deliver part of the training to colleagues.

Putting wellbeing in the spotlight

At their recent ‘Audience with the Exec’ meeting, Regional Ambassadors presented a proposal to introduce an in-house counsellor for residents, improving wellbeing support access.

Clinical Director, Paul Moore, is now exploring options to introduce counselling support.

Incorporating technology to improve care

Chief Transformation Officer, James Robson, gave an update on ongoing transformation projects.

  • A new sensor trial is underway in our West Midlands region using audio-detection technology to signal colleagues when unusual noise or potential falls occur. Early results from the trail are positive and it has been noted that the system enhances resident privacy by reducing unnecessary room entries.

  • Yetitablets are presently installed in 15 of our homes. Full rollout will take place in the early new year for remaining homes, and additional user-focused apps or games can be developed if they’re found beneficial.

  • A new feedback platform, Trickle, will be trialled in five homes which currently have Yetitablets. This trial will allow residents to provide feedback directly to home management via an app.

Championing health and safety

Collaborating with the Health and Safety Team, Ambassadors have been increasing resident involvement by establishing a Health and Safety Committee, and Health and Safety Champions in homes.

Health and safety training for residents is scheduled for roll out in 2026.
