Celebrating Pride Month in care homes is a great opportunity to promote love, acceptance and equality for all, as well as supporting the LGBTQIA+ community and promoting inclusivity and diversity.
Dearnevale care home in Barnsley recently came together to celebrate Pride Month, along with their family and friends.
The Activities Team organised a colourful rainbow-themed party.
Residents and colleagues dressed up brightly for the occasion, and a local singer attended to help them celebrate.
Ruth, Activities Co-ordinator, said “We love doing what we do, and always aim to put a smile on people’s faces.”
The sun was shining and the BBQ was in full swing as attendees enjoyed the celebrations in the garden at Dearnevale.
One family member of a Dearnevale resident shared, “Our loved ones are having the time of their lives and wouldn’t wish to be anywhere else."
Home Manager, Helen, said, “We had an amazing day, we love the Pride celebration. It helps us to celebrate all differences, be it gender, sexuality, religion or disability.
“We had an amazing time and as a Home Manager to be able to see my service users, colleagues and families having a blast it’s a real privilege.”
