Work starts on our new complex needs care home in Stockton-on-Tees

Construction starts on our first care home in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, which will provide specialist care for adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs.

Scheduled to open in early 2023, the new ‘Tees Grange’ care home is receiving a £4.7 million investment, which will provide specialist nursing care for 30 residents and will generate over 150 new jobs for those in the surrounding Stockton area.

Once completed, Tees Grange’s 30 large bedrooms - each with an en-suite wet room - will specialise in supporting adults living with acquired brain injuries, complex mental health needs, dementia and physical disabilities.

The home will be surrounded by an easy-access sensory garden and include a communal hub, and living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family to socialise.

Construction was started last month by construction firm, Walter Thompson, the contractor is also building the Hylton Grange, our new care home in Sunderland, which is also set to open in early 2023.

Paul Hammerton, Managing Director at Walter Thompson Contractors said: “We are pleased to announce that, through collaborative working, planning permission for a new care home in Stockton-on-Tees has now been granted. With an investment of £4.7m, this is our second care home development in Stockton and one of many projects we are working on with Exemplar Health Care.”

The new home will begin recruiting in Winter 2022 for Nurses, Health Care Assistants, Administrators, Kitchen and Domestic Team members, and other support staff.
