The Lord Mayor of Leicester declares Greenacre Park care home officially open

Greenacre Park care home official opening

Greenacre Park, which supports adults living with complex mental health conditions, dementia, neuro-disabilities and physical disabilities, was officially opened this week.

Without Greenacre Park, many residents would otherwise have been in hospital or inappropriate care settings for extended periods of time. Our care enables them to stay in the community and reduces hospital and secure facility admission.

“Individualised care that prioritises independence”

Emma Daniels, Home Manager at Greenacre Park, said: “I am delighted to welcome our residents as we introduce a vital care service to the region.

“We want to make sure that local people receive excellent care, meeting their emotional and wellbeing needs.

“Our mission is to enhance the daily lives of our residents by fostering the development of essential life skills, and empowering them to lead fulfilling lives.”

Katie Capes, Commissioning Manager at Exemplar Health Care, said: "This new home embodies our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional care and support to those living with complex care needs.

“We know the service we provide is in high demand for individuals and families in the local area. Our team is looking forward to working with local commissioners, social workers, and families to make a positive difference to people that need complex nursing care and support.”

Meeting a demand for a high-quality care setting

We invited the Lord Mayor to join us to celebrate opening our first home in the region.

Commenting on her visit, Lord Mayor Dr Susan Barton said: “I wish the staff good luck with the future, and I’m happy to see how much the community has been involved with this launch. Anyone can make a building look nice, but it’s the people that make this home extra special.”

After enjoying a tour of the home, the Lord Mayor cut a ceremonial ribbon and declared Greenacre Park officially open.

Extensive refurbishment of a former elderly care home

Our new home is the result of an extensive refurbishment and extension of the former building, an elderly care home, Foxton Grange which closed in February 2021.

When refurbishing Greenacre Park, we created an environment to support the quality of life for the people who live here.

We’ve found that smaller group living provides a more homely, supportive and responsive care environment. So, we converted the existing 36-bedded building, to create larger bedrooms with more communal areas. The home now has two thirteen-bed communities, and we gave each of the 28 large bedrooms its own en-suite wet room.

We designed areas to encourage close-knit communities within the home. So, each unit has a dining area, lounge, quiet lounge and sensory bathrooms.

The home now has a beauty salon, a therapy room, an activities hub, a multi-faith area and landscaped the private gardens.

When decorating the home, we made sure the home would be visually attractive, with all the comforts of home.
