Exemplar Health Care starts work on new complex needs care home in Hull

Exemplar Health Care has begun the refurbishment of a new complex needs care home in Hull, that’ll provide specialist nursing care for adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs.
Exemplar Health Care’s new ‘Marmaduke’ home is receiving a £2.9 million investment, which will provide specialist nursing care for 18 residents and will generate around 80 new jobs for those in the surrounding Hull area.
Once completed, Marmaduke’s 18 large bedrooms - each with an en-suite wet room - will provide ground floor living for adults living with dementia, acquired brain injury, complex mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
The home will be surrounded by an easy-access sensory garden and include a communal hub, living and dining spaces for residents and their friends and family to socialise.
The Marmaduke care home is a complete refurbishment of the building previously known as the Marmaduke Health Centre.
The £2.9 million refurbishment started last month by construction firm, Pacey and Wheatley, and, when open, will join Exemplar Health Care’s existing 32 homes that provide specialist nursing care and rehabilitation for adults living with a range of complex needs.

"We’ve worked closely with the Clinical Commissioning Groups and local authorities and are proud to bring this one-of-a-kind facility to Hull, to enable local people who have suffered an accident, or are living with complex needs, to live close to home, regain their independence and everyday living skills, and move back into their homes in the community.
"It has always been our policy to build our homes in the heart of local communities so that people can remain close to their loved ones whilst receiving the specialist care that they need and deserve.
"Across our established 32 homes in England, we’ve seen lots of positive examples of partnerships with local communities, and we’re looking forward to doing the same with Marmaduke.”
Stable and secure jobs for local residents
Marmaduke will create over 80 stable, secure, full-time and part-time jobs for local residents in Hull. Next year, the home will begin recruiting Nurses, Support Workers, Administrators, Kitchen and Domestic Team members, and other support staff.
