We’re delighted to announce that this week we officially opened our newest complex needs care home, Marmaduke, in Hull.

The ribbon was cut by Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Lynn Petrini, alongside Marmaduke’s Commissioning Home Director Katie Capes. They were also accompanied by senior Exemplar Health Care executives, team members and residents at the home.

During her visit to the new care home, the Lord Mayor met Marmaduke’s service users, toured around the new home, and spoke with the home's care team.

‘Brilliant new home’

The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor Lynn Petrini, said: “I am incredibly proud to mark the official opening of this brilliant new home. It was so nice to see local people from the community working in the home and it has been lovely to meet Katie and the team at Marmaduke. I would like to congratulate Exemplar Health Care on this fantastic new home, it is clear the team have really worked hard to make Marmaduke such a comfortable place to live for those in their care”.

Comfortable living

Marmaduke is equipped to provide specialist nursing care for 18 adults living with complex needs, including people living with complex dementia and long-term mental health conditions.

Marmaduke has two 9-bed units, across the ground floor, which support up to 18 adults. As well as 18 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite wet room, Marmaduke has communal dining and living spaces, as well as a therapy room which provides a dedicated space for rehabilitation. The home is surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.

Katie Capes, Marmaduke’s Commissioning Home Director, said: “We’re thrilled to announce Marmaduke’s officially open, it’s a beautiful building which I know will provide a special home for our residents. Having worked in the health and care sector for over 19 years, I’m excited to work with my talented team of nurses and carers to provide a welcoming and inspiring home for our residents.”
