We’re delighted to announce that this week our newest complex needs care home Wykewood, opened in Wyke, Bradford.
Wykewood, is Exemplar Health Care’s first home in Bradford, which will support people living with complex mental and physical health needs. The home will also support people living with Huntington’s disease to live a fulfilling life with regular social activities and hobbies.
Wykewood provides person-centred care for adults living with neuro-disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex dementia - including our Thistle Suite which is a male-only environment.
Our approach to care focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
Sharon Burton, the Commissioning Home Director of Wykewood, shares: “I’m thrilled to have opened Exemplar Health Care’s newest home in Wyke, Bradford. This community-based home will provide person-centered care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.
It's extremely rewarding to be able to support 40 local people with complex health needs, and to provide over 150 stable and local jobs for those wanting to progress their careers.
A place to call home
Our home provides a welcoming environment where people can feel at home, continue to do the things that they enjoy, and remain closer to family, friends and loved ones.
Wykewood has 40 large bedrooms across four units, each with an en-suite wet room. We’ve found that this small group living provides a homely and supportive environment, which is more responsive to people’s needs.
We encourage people to personalise their rooms so that it feels like home, whether that’s a full re-decoration or encouraging people to bring special items that are filled with fond memories.
The home also has communal dining and living space, as well as a sensory and therapy room which provides a dedicated space for rehabilitation.
Wykewood is surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.
