Last Tuesday, colleagues in Liverpool officially opened Roseside, our third complex care home in the city.
To celebrate the occasion, colleagues and residents were joined by their families, commissioners, neighbours and local businesses.
Special guests Pauline Daniels, a local comedian and actress, and former Liverpool Mayor, Frank Prendegast MBE were invited to cut a ceremonial ribbon. Pauline and her husband also took a tour of the home and unveiled a plaque to mark the day.
During the tour, Pauline commented on the welcoming and homely feeling as well as the compassion shown towards residents. She also welcomed Exemplar Health Care’s commitment to meeting the complex care needs of the region.
Welcoming and nurturing atmosphere
Liz Butterworth, Home Manager, at Roseside said:
“I’m delighted to officially open our doors to the people of Liverpool. Our aim is to make every day better for our residents by providing person-centred care. We focus on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.”
“We have an exceptional team of colleagues who share a deep passion for providing outstanding care. I am proud that our guests have commented on the welcoming and nurturing atmosphere at Roseside.
"Our utmost priority is to collaborate with care professionals, our valued residents, their families, and the broader community. By doing so, residents receive unparalleled nurse-led care and have their complex needs met within the comfort of their own community.”
One neighbour, who worked at the home under previous management, said:
I love how much brighter and warmer it feels.
Samantha Sim, Commissioning Manager at Exemplar Health Care, said:
“The team here at Roseside are doing an amazing job. It’s great to see so many locals working and supporting the care home ahead of the opening. We are thrilled to open Roseside, another new complex needs care home in Liverpool. This exciting addition represents our unwavering commitment to expanding our services across England. Therefore, ensuring more individuals have access to nursing care right within their own community.”
About Roseside
Roseside, based on Vancouver Road in Netherley, specialises in supporting adults living with complex and high acuity needs.
The home supports those living with a brain injury, neuro disability, spinal injury, complex mental health needs and dementia. Without Roseside, residents – who have challenging care needs – would otherwise have a pro-longed stay in hospital, away from their family and friends.
The home was developed by S&SA Architects and Walter Thompson Contractors to bring this much needed service to the area.
We’ve found that smaller group living provides a more homely, supportive, and responsive care environment. Therefore, Roseside is split in to four, eight-bed communities, and each of the 32 bedrooms has its own ensuite. The units feature communal dining and living spaces and sensory bathrooms. Residents also have use of an activities hub and a large accessible garden to enjoy.
The opening of Roseside has created 100 new healthcare jobs in the local area. Unlike many other local care homes, it features a multi-disciplinary healthcare team. The home has already recruited a mix of care, nursing and therapeutic specialists roles.
Through this multi-disciplinary, specialist team, people living at Roseside will be able to access the full range of clinical and holistic care they need. The new staff team also prides itself on providing person-centred care and empowering residents to maximise their independence. Each resident’s care is based on their healthcare needs and in a way that works for them, providing the support they need to live fulfilling and enjoyable lives.
