Complex care in Liverpool
Welcome to Roseside, where we provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from mental health, neurological, and physical health conditions.
Located on Vancouver Road in Liverpool, Roseside has 32 bedrooms across four small, purpose-built units, creating a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to individual needs.
We’re dedicated to making every day better for the people we support, helping them lead meaningful lives and achieve their personal goals.
Our trained team provides high acuity, nurse-led care services, particularly for individuals with secondary diagnoses and co-morbidities, or those who’ve experienced previous failed placements.
Whether you’re a healthcare professional seeking a complex care placement, or you’re exploring care options for a loved one, view our services below or contact us to find out more.
Our care
The people we support at Roseside would often be in a hospital or higher acuity setting if not placed with us.
Our care enables them to stay in the community, closer to their loved ones.

With this small group living, we’re able to provide a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to individual needs.
The home has communal dining and living spaces, an activities hub, therapy room and a large accessible garden.

Sunflower Unit
Sunflower is a male-only unit for older adults with a primary diagnosis of dementia who present with behaviours of concerns and/or complex co-morbidities. These needs often go beyond what mainstream care services can manage.
Due to the progressive nature of dementia, individuals on Sunflower require advanced care planning, as well as palliative and end-of-life care to ensure dignity, continuity, and comfort.
Many people also live with limited mobility or physical disabilities, requiring specialist equipment and tailored support with daily living.
The environment is thoughtfully designed in line with the University of Stirling’s ‘Environments for Ageing and Dementia Design Assessment Tool (EADDAT),’ creating a space that promotes comfort, independence, and overall wellbeing.
Primrose Unit
Primrose Unit supports adults living with a mental health or neurological diagnosis, who may present with behaviours of concern.
Our goal is to improve quality of life through structured, evidence-based behavioural support.
This includes functional assessments, personalised plans, proactive strategies, skill-building, and safe reactive responses - all underpinned by our Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support approach.
Many people move to Primrose following the breakdown of previous placements, often because other services lack the staffing, skill, or capacity to support their needs safely.
We provide individualised staffing and observation levels, including 1:1 or 2:1 support when needed, to manage risk and promote stability.
Over time, individuals typically show a reduction in behaviours and observation as they settle into a structured, person-centred environment.
People may also have co-occurring physical health needs or disabilities, requiring an integrated approach. With input from both General and Mental Health Nurses, we ensure all aspects of a person’s wellbeing are supported.
Tulip Unit
Tulip Unit supports working-age adults living with physical disabilities and complex health needs, often linked to neurological conditions or spinal injuries.
People may also have co-occurring mental health needs, bladder and bowel conditions, respiratory issues, and/or obesity, requiring coordinated nursing care.
We can also support complex mobility needs, including regular repositioning, skin integrity checks, and postural management.
With input from our Regional Physiotherapist, we’ve helped people gradually rebuild mobility and increase time spent out of bed.
The team includes both Mental Health and General Nurses, enabling a holistic approach that focuses on meeting not just clinical, but also emotional, mental, physical, social, sexual, and spiritual needs - care that mainstream providers cannot provide.
With a focus on progression and meaningful engagement, we work towards outcomes that improve quality of life, and where appropriate, support a rehabilitation pathway to lower acuity settings.
Lavendar Unit (not open yet)
The profile of Lavender Unit will be developed in partnership with stakeholders and shaped by local demand.

Following the publication of the CQC report in April 2025, which was based on an inspection carried out in September 2024, a spokesperson for Roseside said:
“We are deeply disappointed with the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) report, as we believe it does not accurately reflect feedback provided during the inspection in September 2024, testimonials from people living in the home and our team, or discussions with other health and care professionals.
“We have submitted a formal complaint to CQC regarding the process and a detailed factual accuracy challenge in response to the report’s findings.
“We remain firmly committed to ensuring the highest standards of care for the people living in our home. Following the inspection in September 2024, we reviewed the report in detail and, where appropriate, quickly implemented improvements.
“To provide further assurance, we commissioned an independent inspection by Coach4Improvement,a respected and experienced organisation with expertise in the CQC regulatory process and standards.
“Their findings indicate that care at the home meets the requirements for a ‘Good’ rating - well above the CQC’s determination – using the current CQC single assessment framework.
“We are confident in the quality of care provided at Roseside and have invited CQC to return at its earliest convenience to reassess the home.
“We appreciate the positive feedback shared by the people we support and their families and thank them for their patience as we work through this process.”
