Residents, families, colleagues, and neighbours at Ribble View came together to collect essential items for several foodbanks around the Fishwick area.
Working together
The team filled three large shopping bags with tins, packets, sauces, household essentials, and sweet treats.
Home Manager, Jordan Crompton, shared: “It’s important to our team to support our local community, especially now when many families are facing real financial pressures. We felt it was more important than ever to help those who are less fortunate and vulnerable.”
Everyone at the home got involved, one resident collected donations and organised items before delivery, and another handmade individual hampers for local children from families experiencing hardship.
Supporting local communities
Reflecting on the initiative, Jordan added:
“We hope these donations help to relieve some of the pressure people are currently experiencing, while bringing a small moment of joy as they enjoy some nice food. That ties in perfectly with our mission of making every day better.”
All three centres in Fishwick have described Ribble View’s contribution as “greatly appreciated” and “a real help for local people in need.”
This initiative is part of Ribble View’s ongoing community engagement, which also includes donations to the Salvation Army food bank and homeless shelter.
Recently, the team has focused its support on the food bank at Farringdon Park Community Centre, which serves residents in the home’s surrounding area. One former resident volunteered there every Tuesday.
Previously, the home has also hosted donation drives for advent calendars and small Christmas gifts for local children, and regularly joins local fundraising and awareness events to strengthen community ties.
