Marmaduke care home in Hull is celebrating after being rated 'Good' by Care Quality Commission (CQC) in its first inspection.
On 10th August 2022, CQC - the independent health and social care regulator for England - carried out an unannounced visit of Marmaduke, on Marmaduke Street, to inspect standards of care and safety.
The home opened in May 2021 and has been awarded a rating of 'Good' in all five key areas inspected - Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive and Well-led.
During their visit, the inspector found that the home had enough of the right staff, with the right skills mix, to ensure that service users receive effective care and support to meet their needs and improve their quality of life.
The CQC report states: "We observed staff providing patient, attentive care. Promoting choice and independence at all times."
The inspector spoke to residents, their relatives and professionals visiting the service and they gave positive feedback about the care provided. One professional said "The communication and support the staff and registered manager give people is excellent. They keep me informed with any changes in care need and respect my advice."
Colleagues were praised for being friendly and approachable and had a good knowledge of people's diverse needs. One relative said, "The staff are amazing, they are lovely, caring and competent at everything they do."
