The dedication and hard work of colleagues at two of our Yorkshire-based care homes has been recognised by the regional Great British Care Awards.
Amanda Mitchell and Emily Miller of Bennett Court in South Elmsall, and Mark Darbyshire and John Dean of Dearnevale in Grimethorpe, took the win in their respective categories at the Yorkshire and Humber Great British Care Awards.
Amanda Mitchell, Home Manager at Bennett Court won The Good Nurse Award, with judges saying:
"Amanda shows enormous dedication in her role and is making a difference to the lives of residents in her care. She has a wide range of knowledge and experience which she is able to ultilise to deliver best practice."
Her colleague, Emily Miller, came top of The Care Home Worker Award category and was praised for her selflessness and dedication. The judges shared:
"Emily really showed what working in care meant for her. She demonstrated great selflessness and a dedication to ensuring that people received high quality care – especially commendable as a night worker."
The regional awards also celebrated maintenance duo, Mark Darbyshire and John Dean Maintenance from Dearnevale, who won The Ancillary Worker Award.
The regional winners will now be entered into the national Great British Care Awards in March under the same categories.
The awards also celebrated a number of colleagues who came highly commended in their category, just missing out on the winning position.
