Exemplar Health Care celebrates significant milestone as it now supports 1000 adults living with complex needs

Exemplar Health Care has achieved the latest milestone on its journey of care delivery. Having opened ten new homes in the last year, we’re now delighted to be supporting 1,000 adults living with complex needs.

Since opening our first care home, Greenside Court, in 2001, we’ve expanded across the North and Midlands to address the significant unmet need for community based, nurse-led complex care services.

Through two decades of commitment to excellence, we’re proud to have solidified ourselves as a trusted and valued partner to the people we support, their loved ones and to local health and care professionals.

We’re now proud providers of 47 care homes across England, that provide exceptional complex care for 1000 adults who would often otherwise be living in a hospital or secure setting if not placed with us.

Over 20 years making every day better for adults with complex needs

Our mission is and has always has been to make every day better for our people.

Over the years, we’ve seen many examples of how our care has improved the lives of those living with complex needs, who have often experienced one or more failed placements throughout their adult lives.

Dearnevale resident, Rob, is one of our longest standing residents, and shares: “I like living at Dearnevale because it is my home. I have built a new family here. I can do what I want to do and I feel looked after and safe at Dearnevale.”

Our person-centred approach is exemplified by the Service User Ambassador and Service User Council initiatives which provide meaningful opportunities for people to play an active role in the running of their home and in the organisation's decision making.

The Council has become central to Exemplar Health Care’s operations. Council members propose new ideas for policies or initiatives, ensuring they have a shared voice that helps shape the organisation.

A proud employer of over 4500 colleagues

We’re also proud to be an employer for over 4500 colleagues, who all play a vital role in making every day better for the people we support.

Since our roots started as a healthcare consultancy and training company, we’ve long continued our commitment to learning and development.

We’re proud to offer a robust induction programme and extensive learning opportunities for all our colleagues, which has seen many colleagues progress within their career and now holding senior roles in the company.

Christine Mann, Health Care Assistant at Dearnevale, is one of our longest standing colleagues with 16 years service. She shares: 

“I started working here when we had just one unit open and now we’ve grown to a 44 bed home. The thing I enjoy most about coming to work is spending time with our service users - everything I do is for them. I retire next year but I still plan to come back regularly for a coffee and a catch up. Dearnevale has become a home away from home and we’re all a big family.”
