Lord Mayor of Birmingham opens Blackmoor care home

We’re delighted to announce that this week, Blackmoor care home in Birmingham, was officially opened by the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal at a special event.

The Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal, was invited to cut the ribbon and unveil a special jubilee plaque, marking the official opening of the home, alongside Blackmoor’s Commissioning Home Director Kerry Hill and senior Exemplar Health Care executives, team members and commissioners.

During a tour of Blackmoor, the Lord Mayor greeted and spoke with residents at Blackmoor, and met with the home’s care team. The home support adults living with complex mental and health needs including dementia, neuro-disabilities, brain injuries and stroke.

On the home opening, the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Muhammad Afzal, said: “I am so honoured to be here for the official opening of Blackmoor. The team at Exemplar Health Care are providing a high quality of care to the residents and it is great to see so many members of our community working to support the home.

“I’ve had the pleasure of taking a tour of the facilities and can see first-hand how each room is personalised and tailored to each resident’s needs, and that the care workers and nurses are committed to offering the best quality care. The additional amenities such as the multi-faith room and activities hub allow for a real sense of community.”

Blackmoor’s Commissioning Home Director, Kerry Hill, at Exemplar Health Care, said: “We are so thrilled to have officially opened Blackmoor and to have received a warm welcome from the Lord Mayor, Councillor Muhammad Afzal.

“We have designed and built Blackmoor to provide person-centered nursing care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

“We are delighted to be able to support 30 adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs while also generating over 100 jobs to the surrounding area of Birmingham. Blackmoor is a state-of-the-art, community-based home that will allow the residents to feel comfortable and also develop their independent living skills.”

About Blackmoor

Blackmoor is equipped to provide specialist nursing care for adults living with complex needs, including people living with complex dementia and long-term mental health conditions.

The home has three ten-bed units, across the three floors, which support up to 30 adults. As well as 18 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite wet room, Blackmoor has communal dining and living spaces, as well as a therapy room which provides a dedicated space for rehabilitation.

The home is also surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.

Blackmoor is looking for Health Care Assistants and Registered Nurses to join the team. The home is also recruiting a Maintenance Operative, Cook, Domestic Assistant and Kitchen Assistant.
