May every day be better at Exemplar Health Care
9 June 2022

At Exemplar Health Care, we encourage and practice a fun environment for our residents and colleagues, to promote good health and happiness in our care homes.
We’ve had a lot to celebrate throughout the month of May, such as Eid, VE Day, International Nurse’s Day and a special one year anniversary at our Marmaduke care home in Hull.
This blog shares a roundup of what we’ve been up to in our Exemplar Health Care homes throughout May.
Eid Mubarak
To kick off the month of May, we saw some special celebrations for Eid across our homes. At our Parkside care home in Tipton, some of our residents celebrated by receiving gifts and watching Bollywood films accompanied by a traditional meal and some treats.
Over at our Willowbeck care home in Sheffield, the Activities Team have been busy delivering cakes, sweets and other gifts in celebration of Eid.
Celebrating VE Day the right way
Our Dearnevale care home in Barnsley made sure to celebrate VE Day the right way by throwing a garden party, complete with singer, face painting, singing and lots of dancing!
As our Sheffield based care home, Willowbeck, aren’t one to miss out on a party, they too joined in with the VE Day festivities and enjoyed a very patriotic afternoon tea.
Thank you to our wonderful Nurses
During May, we honoured the wonderful work that our Nurse’s do here at Exemplar Health Care by celebrating International Nurse’s Day.
Just like our Team work value states, our Nurses are kind, committed and always there for each other. At Exemplar Health Care we work together to support one another in all that we do.
Nurse’s at our Parkside care home in Tipton received a small gift bag full of goodies such as relaxing candles and facemasks, whilst our Ribble View care home in Preston enjoyed some special Nurse themed cupcakes throughout the day.
At our Longley Park View care home in Sheffield, we have a huge 54 Nurse’s present. Our residents made handmade cards for all our Nurses, which included a poem written especially for the day.
One whole year of Marmaduke
Our Marmaduke care home in Hull, marked its first anniversary in May with cakes, food and gifts!
Marmaduke’s Home Manager, Sarah Kirk, said: “I cannot believe a full year has passed but what an amazing year it’s been. Marmaduke is now a welcoming home for 16 service users and a great place to work for 60 colleagues.”
Getting out and about with our residents
As we move closer to the warm weather, our residents have been getting out and about across the country.
Greenside Court care home in Rotherham had a lovely day out with one of our residents, where they enjoyed a nice hot chocolate before they went for a lovely meal and a beer!
In Birmingham, our Otterburn care home took the advantage of the beautiful weather by walking to their local canal with some of residents.
Creating awareness in and around our homes
Residents have been working alongside our colleagues throughout our care homes to create awareness and fundraise for some brilliant charities.
At Quarryfields care home in Doncaster, residents and colleagues put their wooden spoons to the test to bake some yummy treats for their bake sale in aid of Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
As May is recognised as Huntington’s Disease Awareness Month, some of our colleagues set off on a 13 mile walk from Maypole Grove care home in Birmingham to Bridgewood Mews care home in Tipton to raise funds for charity.
Caring for complex conditions
Exemplar Health Care is a leading provider of specialist nursing care for adults living with a range of complex needs.
We care for some of the most complex and acute individuals, who would often be in a hospital setting if not placed with us, enabling them to continue being a part of their community and reducing hospital and secure facility admission.
Our nurse-led, in-house teams are trained and experienced to support adults living with complex and high acuity needs as a result of a range of conditions, illnesses and disabilities, including:
- brain injury and stroke
- complex dementia
- learning disability and autism
- mental health needs
- neuro-disability including Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease
- spinal injury
- end of life care.
