What people told CQC
People living at Roseside and their families shared positive feedback about their experiences, including:
“It’s a nice place and I can talk to them [staff].”
And: “[Staff] always have a laugh and joke with me.”
Relatives also spoke about feeling reassured by the care their loved ones receive:
“I don’t worry when I leave the home, my mind is at ease as I know [my loved one] is safe and getting well looked after.”
A home that cares
Inspectors highlighted the dignity and respect shown by staff, noting that people were treated as individuals and supported to maintain relationships with those who mattered most to them.
The report also recognised the home’s strong person-centred approach to helping people live meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Inspectors noted that: “There were a wide range of meaningful activities for people which had a positive impact on their well-being.”
And that, importantly:
“People were able to suggest and choose what activities they wanted to do, and staff would support that person to make that happen.”
Care that empowers
CQC further praised the way people were empowered to shape life at the home, highlighting that “People had genuine choice and control over their care and support,” and that “Some people had sat on recruitment panels and had acted as ambassadors for the home.”
The impact of this approach was clear.
Care at Roseside was making a real difference to people’s lives, with the report sharing that: “As a direct result of staff support, the person became more independent.”
And that, through effective partnership working:
“Admissions into hospital had been prevented for people as staff worked alongside professionals to care for people at the home.”
