Our Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support training has achieved certification by Bild Association of Certified Training (Bild ACT).
This confirms that the learning meets the Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards 2019.
The Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards were introduced in 2019 to produce a set of ethical training standards that protect human rights and support the minimisation of restrictive practices.
Since then, our team of clinical experts has developed the Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support (EPBS) training, and we’re proud that the programme has now been certificated by Bild ACT.
The certificated EPBS training includes five days of learning - two of which cover PBS theory, psychological support, self-protection skills and break away techniques, and up to three days of level two training which covers restrictive practices.
It provides colleagues with the skills and knowledge to protect people’s fundamental human rights and promote person-centred, best interest and therapeutic approaches to supporting people when they’re distressed.
This improves people’s quality of life and helps us to achieve our aim of making every day better for adults living with complex needs.
Mark Henry, Head of Behavioural Support and Mental Health at Exemplar Health Care shares: “Back in 2019 we welcomed the introduction of the RRN Training Standards to provide a framework for our training.
“We’re now delighted that our EPBS training has been certificated by BILD ACT. This means that we can be 100% confident that our training meets national guidelines and is providing the best outcomes for the people we support.
“Our EPBS training focuses on how we can prevent the need for restrictive practices and reduce the frequency and intensity of behaviours of concern.
“We all take risks in our everyday lives, and this shouldn’t be any different for people who live in our homes. The training encourages people to understand positive risk taking and how we can support people to take well balanced risks.
“The training is tailored to each service or individual, which leads to improved person-centred outcomes.
“Ensuring that our colleagues have the right skills and knowledge enables us to support people with complex needs in their home, and reduces re-admissions to hospitals and secure settings.
“Part of the certification process also includes certificating senior trainers, and we’re pleased that eight of our behavioural support specialists have achieved this.”
Restraint Reduction Network (RRN) Training Standards 2019
The standards, introduced in 2019, apply to all training that has a restrictive intervention component and will provide a national and international benchmark for training in supporting people who are distressed in education, health and social care settings.
They ensure that training is directly related and proportional to the needs of populations and individual people and that training is delivered by competent and experienced training professionals who can evidence knowledge and skills that go far beyond the application of physical restraint or other restrictive interventions.
Bild ACT is the certification body accredited by United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS) and licensed by the RRN to deliver the RRN Certification Scheme.
