Edgewater raises money with local community for Islamic Relief

Edgewater care home in Wallasey has come together with their local community to raise funds for Islamic Relief, in aid of the recent earthquakes across Turkey and Syria.

Recent earthquakes have devastated Turkey and Syria, leaving a death toll of over 33,000 which is rising by the day.

Home Manager, Sarah McKee, appealed to the local Seacombe community and organised a drop-off collection at Edgewater care home for the community of Wallasey and surrounding areas.

The home received bags full of donations from the local community, who donated items such as children’s clothing and coats, nappies, food and much more.

Sarah shared: “We put a post on the local community Facebook page asking for donations of children’s coats, jackets, nappies and dry foods, and the response was phenomenal. The event showed true community support and everyone worked together to achieve this.”

Sarah organised a courier to transport a van load of donations to the Turkish Community Association.

The care home, including colleagues such as Health Care Assistants, Nurses and other care colleagues along with the community, also raised £200 to donate straight to Islamic Relief, a leading charity that provides disaster and emergency response across the world.

Islamic Relief has delivered lifesaving aid to thousands of earthquake survivors in Turkey and Syria so far and carry on their work with support from communities like Wallasey.
