Colin, who lives on our Quartz Unit at Quarryfields care home in Doncaster, is football mad! He's an avid Leeds United fan and loves attending the odd Leeds game, but due to their top-flight status, it's becoming increasingly harder to obtain tickets.
Also an occasional visitor to Doncaster Rovers, Colin doesn’t mind who he goes to see, as long as he can soak up a live football atmosphere!
Being a Season Ticket holder at Sheffield United, our Activities Coordinator Daniel managed to obtain a spare ticket, so he transferred both tickets to the family stand, and asked Colin if he would like to accompany him to the match.
When he got out of the taxi in Sheffield, Colin noticed the Crucible Theatre straight away, which is famously the home of the World Snooker Championships. Colin, who is also a regular at the snooker, posed for his photo!
Colin and Daniel enjoyed a nice cold pint of (none alcoholic) lager, went to the club shop for a programme and the match day was in full swing. It was then time to enter Bramall Lane, to watch 14th place Sheffield United take on promotion chasing Stoke City, who started the day in 4th place.
The match started with the roar of 26,000 Blades fans singing the Greasy Chip Butty song, which Colin was impressed with!
The first half was a scrappy affair, with end to end chances, but the half ended goal-less. Colin really enjoyed the first half.
After an eventful second half, the full time whistle blew and the match finished Sheffield United 2, Stoke City 1. Colin was over the moon!
