The team at Willowbeck care home recently hosted Exemplar Health Care’s first ever ‘Big Lunch’ event - a day designed to bring residents and colleagues from across our community together.
Held at the beautiful and accessible Rother Valley Country Park, the event welcomed people from other Exemplar Health Care homes, as well as colleagues from Central Support Services.
Everyone brought along their own picnic, games, and plenty of good spirits.
There were games of swingball and skittles, music and laughter, and lots of great conversations - both between old friends and people meeting for the first time.

The aim was simple: to create a space where people could come together, meet new people, and have fun.
And it worked!
The day sparked new friendships and support networks - not just between residents, but between colleagues too.
Lee, one of our Service User Ambassadors at Shire Oaks Court, made the trip from Walsall especially to meet with fellow ambassadors from the Yorkshire region. He said: “We had a lovely time. Thank you.”
The team from Greenside Court added:
“It was a lovely day and so great to see everyone. Thank you so much for organising it!”

There’s already a plan for the next meet-up - a day at the races - with many looking forward to continuing their new connections.
