You don’t need any specific qualifications to become a Health Care Assistant.

Whilst it’s great if you have a relevant NVQ or diploma in health and social care, it’s not essential. What matters most is having a caring attitude, a willingness to learn and a genuine passion for supporting others.

When you join as a Health Care Assistant, you’ll receive a comprehensive induction and role-specific training to help you build the skills and confidence needed to support the people who live in our homes.

You’ll learn about topics such as person-centred care, safeguarding, communication and health and safety, alongside any training relevant to the people you’ll be supporting.

Your development doesn’t stop after your induction. You’ll have access to ongoing learning opportunities, regular support from your team and manager, and the chance to gain recognised qualifications as you progress in your career.

No two shifts are exactly the same, but you’ll spend your time supporting the people who live in our homes with their day-to-day needs, helping them to live as independently as possible.

This might involve supporting with personal care, assisting at mealtimes, accompanying people to activities or spending time getting to know them and providing companionship.

You’ll also work closely with Registered Nurses and the wider Care Team, sharing updates and ensuring each person receives the support that’s right for them.
