Complex care in Barnsley
Welcome to Springfield Vale, where we provide nursing care for adults living with complex needs arising from dementia.
Located on Perseverance Street in Barnsley, Springfield Vale has 33 bedrooms across three small, purpose-built units, creating a homely and supportive environment that’s more responsive to individual needs.
We’re dedicated to making every day better for the people we support, helping them lead meaningful lives and achieve their personal goals.
Our trained team provides high acuity, nurse-led care services, particularly for individuals with secondary diagnoses, co-morbidities, or those who’ve experienced previous failed placements.
Whether you’re a healthcare professional seeking a complex care placement, or you’re exploring care options for a loved one, view our services below or contact us to find out more.

Designing for dementia
We appointed the University of Stirling to advise on the concept design of our purpose-built home, ensuring it incorporates dementia‑friendly environments throughout.
The University of Stirling is internationally recognised for its leadership in dementia and ageing research. Its Dementia Services Development Centre (DSDC), a global hub for knowledge exchange, specialises in evidence‑based dementia design.
At Springfield Vale, we’ve applied DSDC’s environmental design principles to create a supportive, non‑pharmacological approach to managing responsive behaviours associated with dementia.
The DSDC team will return later this year to audit the building under its Tier 2: Supportive framework, and we aim to achieve a 'Gold' accreditation - positioning Springfield Vale to become the first nursing home in the UK to receive this prestigious award.
