Woolston House care home colleagues

We’re delighted to announce that our new care home in Warrington, Woolston House, is now open and taking referrals.

The home supports adults living with complex mental health needs, dementianeuro-disabilities including Huntington’s disease, and physical health conditions.

Woolston House isn’t your typical residential care home.

The home supports people who are considered to have needs that are ‘too complex’ for mainstream care providers.

The people we support can have a number of secondary diagnoses or complexities including behaviours of concern, tracheostomies, ventilators and PEG feeding tubes.

Exemplar Health Care’s holistic approach to care, high staffing levels and small nurse-led communities enable us to meet people’s complex needs in a community-based home, which leads to longer term person-centred outcomes.

We’re proud to bring this much needed service to the Warrington area, to enable more local people living with complex needs to get the care they need, closer to home.

Following an £8.2m investment, the home is now ready to welcome its first resident.

Exemplar Health Care purchased the previous 88-bedded Heathercroft care home, run by Ashberry Healthcare Limited.

Now, the new and refurbished Woolston House has 26 large bedrooms, each with an en-suite across two thirteen-bed communities. Each community has communal dining and living spaces, and a sensory bathroom. Residents also have use of an activities hub, therapy room and large accessible garden.

This small group living enables us to be more responsive to people’s needs and ensure continuity of care.

Complex care in a community-based home

Our highly trained, Nurse-led team supports adults living with complex and high acuity needs, who’d often be in a hospital or secure setting if not placed with us.

The home supports people on their journey from being in hospital or living in a secure setting to community-based living.

Community based living allows individuals to retain their independence whilst receiving support for their care needs.

The team also provides long term support for those living with degenerative or life-limiting illnesses.

Our care enables them to stay in the community and reduces hospital and secure facility admission.
