Meet the Manager of Roseside - Liz Butterworth

Roseside is our new specialist care home in Liverpool, Merseyside, opening in early 2023.

Once completed, Roseside will care for 32 adults living with a range of complex and high acuity needs arising from brain injury and stroke, mental ill-health, neuro disability, and physical disability and complex dementia.

Roseside will bring over 100 jobs to the local area in a range of roles including Health Care Assistants, Registered Nurses, Senior Nurses and support staff such as Maintenance, Kitchen and Housekeeping.

In this blog, we talk to Liz Butterworth, the Home Manager of Roseside, about why she joined Exemplar Health Care and her hopes for the first six months at Roseside.

What drew you to Exemplar Health Care in the first instance?

When I saw that Exemplar Health Care were recruiting for a Home Manager at a brand new complex care home I was initially excited at the opportunity of opening a new home, then I researched the company and I was impressed with the values and mission statement. The thought of working for such a compassionate company not just for the residents and families but for their staff also highly attracted me to come to work here. There are ample training opportunities to enable staff at all levels to fulfil their roles to the best of their ability.

What inspired you to work in health and social care?

I am a qualified General Nurse, I qualified in 2007 at John Moore’s University in Liverpool. Helping and caring for people is all I have ever wanted to do and I have great passion for outstanding care.

What do you think sets Roseside apart from other nursing homes?

Exemplar Health Care’s first value is ‘fun’ which sets them massively apart from other care homes as it’s embedded into their values. The company have higher staffing ratios to other care homes which means more time spent with residents and great, quality of care. There are many failed placements within care homes because providers aren’t always equipped for the high level acuity of a resident. At Exemplar Health Care we have experience in complex care needs and have the training, facilities and equipment in place to deal with such complexities that people live with.

What are you most excited for once Roseside opens?

I have a great passion for providing outstanding care. Having the opportunity to develop and build a brand new team to achieve this goal is the ‘dream’. I’m looking forward to creating new working relationships with the local communities such as the schools, local churches, Netherley Youth & Community Centre and our neighbours.

What would you say to people thinking about applying for the role at Roseside?
