Residents at Exemplar Health Care have started 2023 with a bang! They’ve been blowing off the January cobwebs with walking clubs, celebrating Chinese New Year and some relaxing pamper sessions.

This blog shares some of our favourite stories and photos from January 2023.

Stepping into the New Year

A number of homes have started the year with a spring in their step, by setting up walking groups.

Havenmere, Quarryfields and Edgewater have all been getting out and about in their communities to discover some beautiful scenery on their days out.

Amy, Activities Co-ordinator from Quarryfields said: “All the service users loved the fresh air and saw many dogs whilst out!”

Havenmere told us that Stuart, Amanda and John enjoyed a walk around the park and the breath of fresh air. Mary, Life Skills Co-ordinator, said: “Having a shared interest of walking, nature and wildlife makes conversation between them flow easily.”

Edgewater’s walking group spread their wings and headed up to Wallasey Central Park where they fed the ducks and geese and had a lovely morning out!

The year of the rabbit

In January, many of our teams decorated their homes with Chinese lanterns and hosted celebrations for Chinese New Year.

The Activities Team at Longley Park View made sure to celebrate the year of the rabbit well, by created a papier-mâché rabbit in their arts and crafts sessions.

Bennett Court residents and colleagues were treated to a fabulous evening meal, prepared by colleagues Courtney and Charlotte, with preparation help from one of their residents Barry.

They all enjoyed variety of sweet and sour and curry dishes accompanied by chocolate, prawn crackers and fortune cookies.

Pamper time

Copperfields care home in Leeds hosted a ladies day where residents enjoyed face masks, as well as other treats and relaxing activities.

Amanda, resident at Havenmere, had lovely relaxing day being thoroughly spoiled with having her hair and nails done also a facial and makeup session.

Mary, Life Skills Co-ordinator, said: “It’s a special time where she can relax and talk about things she would like to do in her activity time or anything she may need assistance or support with.”

Edgewater welcomed new resident Kathy this month, who settled in straight away and enjoyed having a pamper session where she requested to dye her hair purple!
