After university, I came across the role as a Health Care Assistant at Yarningdale, a home that was local to me.
I wasn't sure what to expect from working in care, as it was completely new to me. However, I quickly fell in love with the home, the residents, and the culture.
I felt truly inspired from the start and quickly settled into the role. I spent a few years in a care role, working my way up to a senior position, but I often helped out in the kitchen when needed.
I was asked to cover as the Cook for six months, and everything just clicked. I had found my calling, and I absolutely loved it!
I love the variety my role brings - we're constantly adapting to change.
Whether it's the shift in seasons and the menu changes that come with it, or planning for events like parties, birthdays, or themed days. It's always exciting to come up with new ideas and ways to ‘wow’ our residents.
Knowing that I’ve made someone’s day with food and different experiences is incredibly rewarding.
