Kayleigh has lived at Lakeview for six years, building stability, trust, and confidence while living well with complex mental health needs.
Before joining, frequent hospital admissions and transitions between settings left her anxious, unsettled, and socially isolated.
With person-centred, nurse-led care and multidisciplinary support, Kayleigh has avoided hospital admissions for over two years, regained independence in daily life, and strengthened her social connections within the community.
A whirlwind of change
When Kayleigh first arrived, she describes herself as “a whirlwind.”
Frequent hospital admissions, unsettled routines, and inconsistent support made it hard for her to build trust or engage socially.
She needed a stable, responsive environment that could support both her mental health and daily living goals.
Early intervention and a consistent, person-centred approach became the foundation for her journey.
“Now I’m Kayleigh 2.0!
"I’m not lying in bed all the time - I’m getting up, cooking, doing things, going out with friends, and enjoying the activities here.
"I’ve got my life back.”
Stabilising health and building trust
Our nurse-led team worked alongside Kayleigh to monitor her mental and physical health closely, adjusting medication and therapy as needed.
Structured routines and personalised strategies, including music and meaningful activities during daily care, helped her manage anxiety and regain confidence.
Consistent staffing and trust-based relationships allowed Kayleigh to feel secure, engage socially, and express herself safely while reducing hospital readmissions.
Regaining independence and engagement
Kayleigh has developed essential life skills, including cooking, self-care, and managing daily routines.
She participates actively in the home’s social life, enjoys outings with friends, and engages in meaningful activities that promote wellbeing.
These achievements have strengthened her confidence, emotional regulation, and sense of purpose, supporting her broader goal of living independently within her community.
“I’m so much more confident and calmer since I came to Lakeview, and my relationships are better too.
"I’ve moved that far forward that I’m now looking at moving out into my own bungalow.”
Looking ahead as Kayleigh 2.0
Now describing herself as “Kayleigh 2.0,” she’s calmer, more confident, and planning a move into her own bungalow.
With ongoing support from our nurse-led team, Kayleigh is prepared to thrive in her next chapter, remaining connected to her friends and community while continuing to live life on her terms.
