Tyne Grange, Exemplar Health Care’s £3.1 million state-of-the-art complex needs care home in Newcastle, is set to open to residents next month.
The three-storey home, is just a 30-minute walk from Newcastle’s city centre. Tyne Grange will support 22 adults living with complex mental health and physical health conditions.
Right now, builders are putting the finishing touches to the home following its extensive refurbishment. Meanwhile, the home’s 100-strong care team of nurses, support workers, administrators, kitchen, domestic team members, and other support staff are completing training.
Tyne Grange will be the very first Exemplar Health Care home in the North East.
Neighbours may remember the site of Tyne Grange as the Hillfield Nursing Home. Since the acquisition by Exemplar Health Care, Tyne Grange has been rebuilt top-to-bottom from the inside.
Every bedroom comes with an en-suite wet room, with two one-bedroom apartments on the ground floor to support more independent living. Tyne Grange also has high quality communal spaces, including landscaped gardens, for service users and their visitors to enjoy.
‘Raring to go’
Tyne Grange’s Commissioning Home Director, Samantha Cottam brings 12 years of nursing experience to the role. Samantha shares: “We’re raring to go. We’re proud that Tyne Grange can support 22 people, and provide over 100 stable, secure and varied local jobs.

"Our systems, processes and values and set in place – and we’ll fulfil our vision to be outstanding from day one."
The home is currently awaiting registration from the Care Quality Commission (CQC). CQC registration is expected to be completed in September, with residents moving in shortly after.
