Apprenticeships are a great way to develop your skills and knowledge whilst learning on the job. This National Apprenticeship Week, we’re shining a light on the apprenticeship opportunities at Exemplar Health Care and sharing stories from our apprentices.
Exemplar Health Care is proud to offer a range of apprenticeships for colleagues working in all roles and at all levels.
Apprenticeships have brought many benefits to the company, as well as supporting hundreds of colleagues to develop their skills and knowledge and progress further in their career.
Currently we have 130 colleagues working towards an apprenticeship, over half of whom are completing the Adult Care Level 2.
This approach to learning gives colleagues the chance to learn on-the-job and study for a formal qualification whilst earning a wage, without the time and financial commitments of full-time education.
This ensures that we have a competent and confident workforce that has the right skills and knowledge to provide the highest standards of care for our residents.
We’ve also found that colleagues feel more valued and motivated after doing an apprenticeship, and are more likely to progress in their career.
“I started working as a Support Worker at Greenside Court, before progressing to a Team Leader and Core Learning Facilitator. I have now moved into a more senior role as a Core Learning Lead, and have line management responsibilities. I am currently doing a Team Leader Level 3 apprenticeship, which has been great to help me to gain managerial experience.”

About apprenticeships
An apprenticeship is a learning programme where you work and study for a formal qualification - you'll get hands-on experience of the job role, a salary and the chance to train while you work in one of our homes.
At least 20% of your time will be spent doing off-the-job learning, such as attending college or doing specialist training.
Throughout an apprenticeship you’ll complete different assessments, and at the end, do an End Point Assessment, as well as gaining a formal qualification.
“I started my career with Exemplar Health Care after I completed a level 2 apprenticeship in health and social care. I have always wanted to progress and further my career in health care, and Exemplar Health Care seemed the best employer by far to give me this opportunity. Working as a Trainee Nursing Associate is one of the best opportunities I’ve had to work full time and study to progress in my career. I work alongside the Registered Nurse on my unit carrying out delegated clinical tasks to help me to learn on the job. I really enjoy this role as I am able to learn and progress, whilst also gaining valuable work experience. There is always something new to learn and the excitement you get feels great.”
