In aid of Comic Relief’s ‘Red Nose Day’, Exemplar Health Care’s homes took part in a variety of fundraising activities to raise money and awareness for the national charity initiative, including one home holding a ‘Silent Dancing Challenge’.
Red Nose Day, took place on Friday 15 March and saw Exemplar Health Care residents and care teams join the rest of the country in raising money for vulnerable people and communities in the UK and internationally, by holding fun activities, bake sales and special fundraising challenges.
For the week building up to the charity day, our specialist care home in Stoke-on-Trent, Scotia Heights, held a ‘Silent Dancing Challenge’, which saw residents and Exemplar Health Care colleagues dancing for half an hour each with headphones on.
The Scotia Heights team completed a full 24 hours of silent dancing and finished off the challenge with a ‘Red Nose Hoedown’ – a line dancing group finale!
Skills Development Facilitator at Scotia Heights, Georgina, said: “The Silent Dancing Challenge was so fun, and it was so good to see our residents and teams get involved in raise money for such a worthy cause. We especially enjoyed the Red Nose Hoedown on the last day!
Over at our Barnsley home, Dearnevale, residents and the care team held a bowling competition, served pie and peas and held a bake sale to raise funds for the day. The Dearnevale care team also wore fancy dress or wore something red for the day, and each donated £1 to the cause.
Residents and team members at our Sheffield home, Longley Park View, created their own ‘Red Nose’ balloon faces and donned red wigs to help raise awareness.
