New apartments opening at Bennett Court, bringing 20 new roles to South Elmsall

Our Bennett Court home in South Elmsall has finished construction of purpose-built new apartments, bringing 20 new jobs to the area in Health Care Assistant, Senior Health Care Assistant and Nurse roles.
The apartments provide a much needed increase in the capacity at the complex care service, Bennett Court, located on Ash Grove in South Elmsall. They will allow local people access to the specialist nursing care they need, closer to home and out of hospital.
The one of a kind apartments offer independent living for up to nine adults living with complex needs.
They’re ideal for people who display behaviours of concern who may find it challenging to live in a large group environment or those who are looking for a move towards independence from the main nursing home as part of their rehabilitation.
Other residents may be those in the early stages of Huntington's disease who aren’t ready to move into the main care home yet.
Look inside the apartments
The new apartments are on the grounds of the existing Bennett Court care home. This provides overarching support from an established service when needed.
Each spacious apartment comprises an open plan living space with a kitchen-diner, a lounge, laundry facilities and a kitchen, complete with rise and fall sink and cooking hobs. Each bedroom will have its own en-suite wet room.
The apartments promote independence whilst providing a safe and secure home that’s fitted with the latest nurse call system which has been linked to doors, bed alarms, coded doors, electronic records and a secure fenced garden.
There’s also a communal ‘Hub’ for socialising with other residents.
A new concept for Exemplar Health Care
The apartments are a new concept to Exemplar Health Care, and are different to any other provider offering.
It will enable the staff team to be more actively involved in the recovery of residents and provide high-end care in a more rehabilitation focused environment.
With brand new facilities such as the rise and fall sink and hobs, the nurse-led team will learn, teach and empower residents to build their independent living skills.
The apartments will fall under the registration of Bennett Court and the Home Manager, Amanda Mitchell, but will be managed by a Nurse in Charge with the support of Health Care Assistants.
Residents can also access support from the main care home’s Clinical Nurse Manager, Occupational Therapist and Activities Team. As well as accessing Exemplar Health Care’s central Clinical Team, Consultant Psychiatrist and Behaviour Support Specialists in times of crisis.
“I’m extremely proud”
Bennett Court opened in December 2021. Within a year of opening, the home has gone from strength to strength, achieving what any long-standing care home would be envious of.
Amongst the achievements are receiving a ‘Good’ overall rating in its first inspection from Care Quality Commission (CQC), with ‘Good’ in each of the key areas.
In November 2022, Amanda Mitchell, the newly-promoted Home Manager, took home the ‘Good Nurse Award’ at the Great British Care Awards.
It’s not surprising that every bed is occupied and the home already has a waiting list of residents hopeful to move into the home.
