Meet the Manager of Greenacre Park in Leicester - Nikki Swift

Nikki Swift is the manager opening Exemplar Health Care’s newest complex care service in Leicester, Greenacre Park.
When open, Greenacre Park will specialise in supporting adults living with complex health and care needs arising from neuro disabilities, mental health conditions and physical disabilities.
In this blog, we talk to Nikki, the Home Manager of Greenacre Park, about why she joined Exemplar Health Care and how the home will be different to any other she’s worked in before.
What drew you to Exemplar Health Care in the first instance?
In my previous role, we had referred service users to Exemplar Health Care. I was extremely impressed by the quality of individualised bespoke care and respect shown to resident’s choice. The organisations passion for creating a positive environment for staff to work is refreshing.
I’m passionate about what I do, and Exemplar Health Care’s core values resonated with my own. It’s very exciting to have the opportunity to open and grow a new service in Leicestershire. I’m looking forward to doing it with a company that cares about residents, staff and families.
What inspired you to work in care?
My sister has learning disabilities and I’ve always been driven to achieve the very highest standards of care. Care should focus on ‘what people can do’ rather than what people can’t. Empowering people to live fulfilling lives and enabling them to reach their full potential.
What do you think sets Greenacre Park apart from other care homes?
The service users, families and staff will have a voice at Greenacre Park. They will all be instrumental in developing the service, making it an enjoyable place for all to be.
Staff will be supported and encouraged through a bespoke induction with a clear pathway for progression.
Residents will be offered bespoke packages of care. We tailor to meet individual needs based on their own voice, supported by family, staff and the wider professional teams.
In addition to our Registered Nurses and Health Care Assistants, we will have a dedicated Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and Activity Co-ordinator within the home. When needed, we’ll receive support from specialists Nurses, the companies Behavioural Support Team and a Psychiatrist.
The home will have state of the art equipment. It will help residents maximise their independence, including high-quality technology innovations.
Above all, I want everyone’s experience of Greenacre Park to be an enjoyable one.

What are you most excited about once Greenacre Park opens?
Everything… from being part of the Leicester community, to ensure inclusion for our residents - whilst remaining close to their friends and families. To creating new jobs and building a fantastic team.
What do you think the residents will value the most about Greenacre Park?
I hope residents will value everything about living at Greenacre Park, but I envisage:
- The freedom to express and drive their own care needs.
- Inclusion into the local community.
- Friends and families who are always welcomed.
- Respect and high standards of care.
- A dedicated team of Nurses and Health Care Assistants.
- Higher staffing levels to support person-centred outcomes.
- Psychotherapist, Occupational Therapist and an Activities Team on site.
- Close working relationships with funders, GP's and other professionals.
- A Home Manager that listens and loves to make life better for all!
What would you say to others thinking about applying for a role at Greenacre Park?
Apply! We are not like other nursing homes in the area. You will be able to make a difference and be part of the homes success.
