We’re proud to share that Willowbeck care home in Sheffield has been rated ‘Good’ in all areas by Care Quality Commission (CQC) following its latest inspection.
The home, which supports up to 80 adults living with complex physical and mental health needs, was praised for its caring culture, person-centred approach, and commitment to continuous improvement.
A kind and compassionate team
The inspection highlighted that staff treated people with kindness, dignity, and respect, and that they were attentive, compassionate ,and familiar with people’s individual needs and preferences.
One resident shared:
“I can’t fault them, none of them. They are kind and try their best.”
Another said:
“I feel safe. All the staff are always there to support.”
Relatives and partners echoed this feedback, noting how much they valued the team’s approach.
One shared: “All staff seem really nice. Always answer queries.”
With another adding: “We have witnessed genuine care from staff.”

Personalised care that puts people first
At Willowbeck, everyone is treated as an individual, and care is tailored to support people’s goals, strengths, culture, and faith.
Inspectors found that care plans reflected people’s personal preferences, with staff supporting individuals to continue meaningful routines and traditions.
One resident shared: “I get a taxi to the Mosque for Friday prayers every week.”
A relative told the inspector: “They [staff] are helping [person] with their independence skills.”
Meaningful activities and co-production
The report recognised the home’s strong commitment to co-production, where people are empowered to shape the services and support they receive.
Residents take part in regular meetings, feedback surveys, and both local and regional forums.
Service User Ambassadors are appointed to represent the views of people living at Willowbeck and influence positive change.
“They [provider] seem very progressive and value service user input.”
People are also involved in shaping staff training, ensuring it stays person-centred and relevant:
“At the moment, person is involved in PBS (positive behaviour support) training making sure it is person centred. The training has been tweaked to include what our service user thinks of the staff approach and how they could best be supported.”

Skilled and supported staff
Inspectors praised the home’s training and support for staff, noting a clear commitment to development, supervision, and competency.
One colleague shared:
“The training is good. I started seeing care work differently when I came due to the training. The training relates to the people we support.”
And another added:
“When I started, I was given enough time to work with people and get to know them. My team helped me. I have had training specific to mental health needs and physical health needs.”
