Marmaduke, our second complex needs care home, opens in Hull!

We’re delighted to announce that last week our newest complex needs care home, Marmaduke, opened in Hull.

Marmaduke, is Exemplar Health Care’s second home in East Yorkshire, which will support people living with complex mental and physical health needs.

The home has the facilities and skills to provide safe person-centred care and rehabilitation for adults who have neuro-disabilities, acquired brain injuries and complex mental health needs, including those who display behaviours of concern.

Our approach to care focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible.

Katie Capes, the Commissioning Home Director of Marmaduke, shares:

“I’m thrilled to have opened Exemplar Health Care’s second home in Hull. This community-based home will provide person-centered care and rehabilitation that focuses on maximising independence, building everyday living skills, and empowering people to live as fulfilled lives as possible. It is extremely rewarding to be able to support 18 local people with complex health needs, and to provide over 80 stable and local jobs for those wanting to progress their careers.” 

A place to call home

Marmaduke has 18 large bedrooms across two units, each with an en-suite wet room. We’ve found that this small group living provides a homely and supportive environment, which is more responsive to people’s needs. Our home provides a welcoming environment where people can feel at home, continue to do the things that they enjoy, and remain closer to family, friends and loved ones.

We encourage people to personalise their rooms so that it feels like home, whether that’s a full re-decoration or encouraging people to bring special items that are filled with fond memories.

The home also has communal dining and living space, as well as a sensory and therapy room which provides a dedicated space for rehabilitation.

Marmaduke is surrounded by a large landscaped garden, that’s been designed with accessibility in mind, and is ideal for parties, events and activities.
