Love working in care

Nurse talking to carer in care home

On Valentine’s Day, we often look towards our family and friends to share an expression of love. This year we want to share why our colleagues love working in care and the rewarding career that you can have when you join us at Exemplar Health Care.

Working in care can be demanding, but at the end of every day you go home with the knowledge that you’ve made someone’s day brighter and added real quality to their life.

We make a difference

Our person-centred care makes a difference to our residents’ lives both long-term and day to day. It’s rewarding to see the results first-hand, whether you’re helping a resident to cook a meal or taking them shopping. Knowing that you’ve made a difference to their day and put a smile on their face is a personal reward.

Your care is valued and appreciated by our residents and you can encourage and empower them to decide how they want to live their life independently, with a gentle helping hand.

Rewarding relationships

Care is an incredibly people-focused job - if you love chatting and socialising then care can make you feel connected.

Residents and Health Care Assistants often build close relationships based on trust - spending one-to-one time with individuals can really give you the opportunity to get to know one another.

Relationships that are formed within the workplace don’t just start and finish with our residents. Colleagues within Exemplar Health Care make some brilliant friendships in our homes too. Working in a care setting means that you get the opportunity to collaborate with others to create a fun and engaging environment, which in turn encourages a positive mind-set and environment for both our residents and our colleagues.

Every day is different

So many other professions can quickly become boring or repetitive, doing the same thing every day, without a second thought. Working in care may be challenging at times, but every day brings new laughter, new memories and new empowerment.

Experiencing new challenges and being in a role as unpredictable as care can help you grow as a person as well as professionally. Care needs of residents can change on a daily basis, so you’ll learn how to adapt quickly to your surroundings and speed up those reactions.
