Exemplar Health Care is three time finalist at national Care Home Awards

Exemplar Health Care has been announced as a finalist in three categories at the 2022 Care Home Awards.

The awards are an annual celebration of excellence and innovation across the care home sector in the UK.

We’re looking forward to joining the other finalists at the awards finals on 1 July 2022 in London.

Finalist: Best for Wellbeing

Congratulations to Sophia Feurtado, Service User Engagement Manager at Exemplar Health Care.

Her nomination for this award focused on our work promoting independence, co-production and wellbeing through our Service User Ambassador initiative.

This initiative gives our service users a voice in how their home and the wider company is run.

Despite the challenges of the pandemic, our Ambassadors have continued their great work. In 2021 they organised fun events including a virtual Easter bonnet parade and Exemplar’s Got Talent competition. They’ve also been involved in the design of our new care homes and exciting projects such as developing a new service user app.

The initiative has seen some great outcomes for people, giving them a sense of pride and purpose, and improving their overall wellbeing.

Finalist: Best for Use of Technology and Digital Care Strategy

Congratulations to the team at Ribble View care home in Preston whose work using virtual reality to improve service user outcomes is a finalist in this category.

Ribble View is an Exemplar Health Care specialist care home that supports adults living with complex needs. The team at the home, alongside experts from Rescape Innovation, have been using virtual reality (VR) technology (called DR.VR) to support therapy sessions at the home.

Over the past twelve months, the Therapy Team has worked with individuals to create tailored VR experiences based on their interests and personal choices.

As a result, they’ve seen some great progress made in people’s health and wellbeing, in particular reduced stress and anxiety, and increased movement.

Finalist: Best for Training and Development

Congratulations to our Learning and Organisational Development Team whose dedication to colleague development led to us being a finalist in this category.

Exemplar Health Care offers exceptional learning and development opportunities for colleagues. It starts with a four day corporate induction covering the company values, person-centred care and mandatory training. The induction also includes Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support (EPBS) training that’s accredited by Bild ACT, followed by a workplace induction.

We offer ongoing development opportunities including four in-house training programmes certificated by the CPD Certification Service.

We work closely with Mercia College and The Learning Curve Group to offer a range of apprenticeships for colleagues – and we’re one of the largest private providers of the Trainee Nursing Associates programme.
