Our service users are building the future for Exemplar Health Care

Here at Exemplar Health Care, we listen to our service users and involve them in decisions that impact their life and the running of our homes.

Residents can become a Service User Ambassador and take part in our Service User Council, as well as having regular opportunities to get involved and feedback via resident meetings, care plan reviews and surveys.

Each month, our Service User Council gather together to put forward, and get updates on, any ideas and suggestions they’ve gathered from the service users in their homes.

The purpose of our council is to make sure that all of our homes have an equal opportunity to share ideas and feedback, give service users the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues to enhance our services, and bring more fun and engagement to our homes

Recently, Charlotte Lloyd, Developments Director at Exemplar Health Care, joined the Service User Council to ask for feedback on the layout and décor of our homes, that will shape how we build our future services.

The council shared their ideas on what would be best to include in our new build homes, including; a salon, a hydro-bath with spa features, a ground floor hub with additional space for visitors, gym equipment and therapy equipment.

Charlotte thanked the council for their feedback and has incorporated many of the suggestions into the blue prints of our new care homes.

One of our Service User Council members, Anthony from our Lakeview care home in Leigh, explained that since Wi-Fi installation and due to lockdown restrictions, more people are using video calls which can slow down the performance.

As a result of this, David Pancott, Chief Information Officer and our IT Team are working with Anthony to upgrade Wi-Fi in two phases which will make the Wi-Fi more accessible and quicker.

Anthony has a background working in IT, and so has been offered a voluntary role within the IT Team, which he’s looking forward to starting.
