Meet Sarah, Clinical Nurse Manager with Exemplar Health Care

Sarah is the Clinical Nurse Manager at Ribble View. After training as a Registered Mental Health Nurse, she’s worked in a range of settings before joining the management team at our Ribble View care home in Preston. In this blog, she shares her career journey, showcasing the great opportunities available for Registered Nurses at Exemplar Health Care. 

From a young age, Sarah has worked in the social care sector. Her first role was in a learning disability service supporting adults who displayed behaviours of concern, and from there, she trained to become a Registered Mental Health Nurse.

In her early nursing career, Sarah worked in a range of settings including mental health, psychiatric intensive care, eating disorders and elderly care.

Moving into a management role

She soon found that her passion was supporting people who display behaviour of concern, and she gained experience working on specialist challenging behaviour units before moving to an 80-bed specialist nursing home.

It was here that Sarah took her first step into management and was quickly promoted to the Head of Nursing.

Sarah was keen to further develop her skills and experience, and joined Ribble View as Clinical Nurse Manager in November 2020.

In this role, Sarah works closely with the Registered Manager to support the running of the home and ensure that the team provides the highest standards of care for our service users.

She plays a vital role in ensuring that the home complies with regulatory requirements and meets CQC standards.

Her goal is to support the team to achieve ‘nothing less than outstanding’ and since starting in her role, has contributed to excellent outcomes in the home’s internal service reviews and inspections.

The residents at Ribble View have quickly won Sarah’s heart. When asked what she enjoys most about her role, she shares: “It’s their [the residents] smiles - they are at the heart of Ribble View and seeing them happy is what motivates me”.

Career development as a Nurse

Sarah is also impressed with the development opportunities at Exemplar Health Care, and her goal for the future is to progress into a Home Manager position with the company: “Exemplar Health Care looks after its staff. I have never had better training, support and guidance and there are exciting opportunities ahead."
