‘Outstanding’ Rotherham care home celebrates 20 years of care
11 May 2023
Greenside Court care home in Greasbrough, Rotherham, has celebrated 20 years since it welcomed its first resident.
Greenside Court opened its doors in 2003 as our first complex care service. To mark the 20th Anniversary, residents, families and colleagues gathered for a party which featured special guests Mayor Councillor Tajamal Khan, and local legend Miller Bear, the Rotherham United Football Club mascot.
Paul, a resident at the home, said:
“I love it here! Everyone is so nice, the staff are lovely, and that helps make it a home.”
Sarah, another resident said:
“Greenside Court is my home and I love it so much. The staff are lovely, especially Alan Jackson (Team Leader) who’s my favourite!”
As well as being Exemplar Health Care’s first care home, Greenside Court achieved an ‘Outstanding’ rating from Care Quality Commission (CQC) in February 2020. This places the service in the top five per cent of all nursing homes in England.
The CQC praised the home for its ‘exceptionally’ caring staff team, for being a responsive and well-led service, and highlighted the extensive positive feedback from residents, relatives and professionals.
Jayne Fleming, Home Manager at Greenside Court at Greenside Court, said:
“We’re delighted to celebrate this milestone anniversary. Greenside Court was Exemplar Health Care’s first home, and it has set the standard for the rest of our services across the country."
“We’d like to thank everyone who’s been part of our journey over the past 20 years, including our current and former colleagues, residents, relatives, commissioners, regulators and the local community which has always supported us.”
Jayne joined Exemplar Health Care as a Healthcare Team Leader in 2011, whilst also undertaking an Access to Nursing course at college.
She then pursued a BSc in learning disability nursing, before joining Exemplar Health Care’s nursing team as a newly qualified Nurse at 44 years of age.
In 2018, Jayne joined Greenside Court, where she received clinical training to support adults with neurological conditions.
Within six months, Jayne progressed to become a Unit Manager, and was quickly promoted to Clinical Nurse Manager during which time she oversaw the home being awarded the coveted ‘Outstanding’ rating from the CQC.
Jayne became the Home Manager in 2021.
Reflecting on her career journey, and the support and mentoring she received from Exemplar Health Care, Jayne said:
“I am eternally grateful for the opportunities for growth and development I’ve had whilst working at Exemplar Health Care. I would not be in the position I am today without the support and guidance I have received over the years.
“Everyone at Exemplar Health Care is committed to not only to the wellbeing of our residents, but to each other. I am proud to be part of the Exemplar family.”
