Today, Friday 17 June 2020, is World Emoji Day!

And who doesn’t use (or love) emojis? ?

As we all know, emojis are fantastic for when a sentence or word just won’t do.

At Exemplar Health Care, not all our lovely residents like to use a lot of words. But as you can see from these photos, their faces tell it all.

Here are some of the memorable times we’ve seen a smile that made our day!

When one of our service users celebrated his birthday

Having a birthday party is always a lot of fun – and for one of our residents at Neville Court in Barnsley, a birthday cake and a celebratory half-pint brought this great smile to his face.

When growing sunflowers in the garden

Michelle at Ravensdale in Leeds loves growing sunflowers – and as you can see, she loves checking on them and seeing them grow. Last year Michelle’s sunflowers were absolutely towering, so fingers-crossed for another bumper crop!

When enjoying the fresh air

eastlands

During the good weather, Sue was delighted to spend time in the fresh air outside at Eastlands in Sutton-in-Ashfield. She was so happy just enjoying the fresh air and sunshine!

When celebrating US Independence Day

Floyd, who’s American, seen here on the left, loves celebrating US Independence Day – and we at Brook View in Liverpool managed not to be too hurt that he was celebrating independence from the UK! On a side note, we LOVE the hot-dog costume!

When cooling down on a hot day!

During the mini heatwave a few weeks ago, some of our residents at Kingfisher View in Castleford took a dip in the paddling pool outside. As you can see, the paddling pool certainly brought a smile to their faces!

When doing arts and crafts

At Fairburn Vale in Castleford, our residents got busy making stained glass wind chimes. The idea is they catch the light while hanging in the windows. Pretty!

When at the beach (in the garden)

Lockdown didn’t stop our residents making the most of the great weather. At Dearnevale in Barnsley, we had a ‘beach day’ – with water sports, flower garlands, and overall fun in the sun!

When seeing family during a (socially distanced) visit

visit

With lockdown, Geoff at Fairburn Mews at Castleford hadn’t seen his family in ages – so you can imagine how glad they all were to see each other again!

We’re delighted to add smiles, joy and fun to our residents’ lives, and make every day better for everyone we support. Here’s to many, many more smiles!
