It’s the New Year and alongside the gym membership and New Year’s resolutions, you might be thinking about making a change to your career.

If you’re looking to make a fresh start to your career in the New Year, here are five reasons why you should consider joining the Exemplar Health Care family.

1. Make a difference

“Health care isn’t an easy choice, but it’s a choice of passion and commitment. Everyone at Exemplar Health Care is committed to not only our residents, but each other. I am proud to be part of the Exemplar family.”

Jayne Fleming – Clinical Nurse Manager, Greenside Court, Rotherham

Our aim is to make every day better for our people, and we put our residents at the heart of everything that we do. When you work with us, you’ll be making a difference each and every day.

Our homes are made up of small 10-bedded units, so you’ll work closely with the people you support and be able to see their progress throughout their journey with us, which is extremely rewarding.

2. Training and career development opportunities

“I started working with Exemplar Health Care as a newly qualified Nurse, and, with the support of the company, I’m now the manager at Greenside Court. Exemplar Health Care has shown how you can move up the ladder, and that it really is possible to grow.”

Kim Payne – Home Manager, Greenside Court, Rotherham

Many of our colleagues say that they chose to work with Exemplar Health Care over other employers because of our training and career development opportunities.

We offer a wide range of online learning modules through our eLearning platform, as well as a variety of training programmes, qualifications and apprenticeships.

We’ve also developed an extensive in-house training programme which includes courses such as:

  • ABC of Caring programme
  • People Management Skills
  • Effective Manager Series
  • Coaching.

We know that the demand for high-quality, specialist nursing care will continue to grow. There are lots of career opportunities at Exemplar Health Care that offer long term job security.”

Katie Morris – Senior Recruiter, Exemplar Health Care

Job security is a big benefit of a career with Exemplar Health Care, no matter what your role is.

Care and nursing roles will always be an essential part of the health and social care sector, and with the population continually rising and people living much longer, the needs and requirements for health care are also rising.

Exemplar Health Care is a growing business, with plans to open five new homes in 2021, and our roles offer long-term stable employment, with lots of opportunities to develop.

4. Rewards and benefits

“I have worked for Exemplar Health Care for nearly 13 years. I love my job, we are like a family. I know people say that all the time – but I love working at Havenmere, and Exemplar Health Care has been really good to us – they have provided us with everything we need. Thank you so much!”

Support Worker – Havenmere, Immingham

We know that our colleagues are what make us the outstanding that company that we are, which is why we invest in them.

Our colleagues can benefit from a range of rewards and initiatives to say thank you for the dedication, care and compassion that they show every single day, including:

  • retail and lifestyle discounts

5. Flexible working

“The home that I work in is close by to where I live, and because I work three 12-hour shifts each week, I get four days of free time – it’s a very nice work-life balance.”

John Rouse – Registered Nurse, Copperfields, Leeds

Unlike many other jobs, a job in care will provide you with the options of flexible working, whether you’re looking to work full-time or part-time.

With nursing being a 24/7 job, you have the option to work during the day or during the night, depending on what hours suits your lifestyle best.

Many shift patterns involve 12 hour shifts, which means that you’ll often get 3-4 days off in a row – which gives great work-life balance or means that you can pick up overtime if you wish.

A growing number of Nurses and Support Workers also work part-time or are available on-call, allowing them to explore other opportunities in their free time.
