Exemplar Health Care has introduced new eLearning modules to support new recruits to complete the theoretical elements of the Care Certificate.

We hope that this will enable us to efficiently recruit and induct more people, so that our homes can continue to operate at safe staffing levels during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and beyond.

The Care Certificate was introduced in April 2015 and sets the minimum standards which define the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are expected of health and social care workers who are new to the sector. The standards include topics such as understanding your role, working in a person-centred way, safeguarding adults and infection prevention and control.

Exemplar Health Care uses The Care Certificate as part of a robust induction programme for new Support Workers, to ensure that they’re confident and competent to deliver high-quality care and support.

The new online modules mean that the theoretical elements of the Care Certificate can now be assessed via our eLearning platform - Exemplar’s Learning Management System (ELMS).

When new recruits start working in our homes, they have a designated buddy to help them to embed their skills and knowledge into practice. The buddy or line manager will carry out observations, Q&A’s and witness testimonies to assess the practical elements of the Care Certificate.

Lauren Brooke, Learning and Development Lead at Exemplar Health Care, welcomes the new online modules. She says: “Given the current challenges that the care sector is facing with delivering training, it’s inspiring to know that our new colleagues are being given the best opportunity to succeed. Our eLearning modules provide an excellent foundation of the knowledge and skills that all of our care workers need.”

Exemplar Health Care is committed to the ongoing learning and development of all colleagues. Find out more about our career development opportunities on our website
