Excellent care is at the heart of everything we do at Exemplar Health Care. The Care Certificate equips colleagues who are new to the sector with everything they need to know to provide just that.

What is the Care Certificate?

The Care Certificate sets the minimum standards which define the knowledge, skills and behaviours that are expected of health and social care workers.

The standards include topics such as understanding your role, working in a person-centred way, safeguarding adults and infection prevention and control.

What do I need to do to be certified?

In order to achieve the certification, you’ll need to take part in theoretical and practical training. You’ll then be assessed on the knowledge and skills you’ve gathered.

This may sound a little daunting, however you’ll have tonnes of support through this process in the form of a buddy and other colleagues in the home.

Is this the only training I’ll receive?

The Care Certificate is only the beginning!

When you start a role with us, you’ll take part in our welcome induction. This tells you more about who we are and our values and supports you to complete mandatory training.

Following on from our welcome induction, you’ll complete a role specific induction in your home/team.

If you’re a home-based colleague, you’ll be assigned a buddy during your first few weeks with us. Your buddy will be on hand to guide you through your new role and answer any questions you may have.

Once you’re settled into your new role, the learning and development opportunities available are endless. You’ll get access to our eLearning, internal training such as Exemplar Positive Behaviour Support, and external training such as apprenticeships and diplomas.

We’re committed to the ongoing learning and development of our teams. Find out more about career development opportunities here.
