This Professional Care Workers week, we’re celebrating ALL our colleagues who work to make every day better for our residents.

There are lots of teams that make up Exemplar Health Care, and each one plays an equal part in our mission to support adults living with a range of complex needs.

We’re proud of the kindness and dedication shown by all our colleagues every day. Upholding our core values is at the heart of everything they do.

In this article, we answer some important questions about working in care, including:

  • What is Professional Care Workers week?
  • What does working in care involve?
  • What career progression is there for care workers?
  • What do our colleagues say about working in care?

What is Professional Care Workers week?

Professional Care Workers week is a celebration of Care Workers and the essential work they do to support others every day.

It’s a chance for those both inside and outside of the sector to show appreciation for the positive impact care workers have on people’s lives.

Whether you’re a Health Care Assistant, a Maintenance Technician or Activities Coordinator, this week is an opportunity to recognise the efforts you make for our residents.

This week is also a great opportunity to encourage more people to consider a career working in the care sector. It doesn’t matter if you’re a recent school leaver, or looking for a career change, what’s most important is that you want to care!

What does working in care involve?

At Exemplar Health Care, our colleagues go above and beyond to make every day better for the people living in our homes.

Our mission is to provide person-centred care to support our residents to maximise their independence and live their best lives.

Each person we support has their own goals, and it is our role to help them achieve these, whether that’s making a cup of tea, starting a new hobby, or going away for a weekend.

Although no two days are the same, you can guarantee when working in care, each day you leave feeling as though you have made a difference.

What career progression is there for care workers?

In some careers, there’s an obvious path to follow, but in social care, there are lots of options. For example, if you start out as a Health Care Assistant, you could end up almost anywhere!

We pride ourselves on offering great learning and development opportunities at Exemplar Health Care.

Whether you’d like to progress from Health Care Assistant to Head Housekeeper, or Registered Nurse to Home Manager, we have the training and support ready to help you on your way.
