Bennett Court’s buddys prepare to welcome their new colleagues

Our team of buddy’s support new colleagues when they start working in our care homes. They introduce them to the team, show them around the home, provide advice and work alongside them whilst they settle in.

This ensures that anyone who starts working us feels welcome and confident in their new role.

Recently, at our new care home Bennett Court in Pontefract, the first group of buddy’s completed their training workshop. This workshop sets our buddy’s up to be ready to support their new colleagues who will join the home over the coming months and into the future, making sure that they have the best new starter experience as possible at a fantastic new home.

The buddy’s role is to provide informal support and guidance to new colleagues, which may include, but is not limited to:

• showing new colleagues around the home
• introducing new colleagues to other colleagues and service users
• helping new colleagues to understand their role, ways of working, routines, systems and processes
• answering day-to-day questions
• being available to provide information and guidance in a friendly, supportive, confidential and non-judgmental manner.

We’re really proud to have a wonderful team of buddy’s across all of our homes, and in particular in our new care homes where colleagues are still getting to know each other.

Being a buddy is a great development opportunity for existing colleagues

Being a buddy at Exemplar Health Care is also a great opportunity for existing colleagues to develop their skills and confidence.

As a buddy, existing colleagues can help to coach and support new colleagues when they start working with us. It’s a great opportunity to develop communication and interpersonal skills, and help to make every day better for their team.

When you join us, you’ll complete a corporate welcome induction as well as role specific induction, and be supported by your very own buddy.
