Welcome to Thames House

At Thames House nursing home in Rochdale, we build our care and activity plans around an individual, supporting and encouraging them to be happy, cared for and fulfilled. Thames House specialises in care for adults with neuro-disabilities, brain injury, stroke and mental ill-health.

Our home

Service users at Thames House live across two units, Hollingworth and Pennine. Each unit has a dining room and lounge, with an activity room in the Hollingworth unit. Bedrooms can be decorated to suit personal tastes and every room has a TV point and an accessible ensuite wet room.

Thames House brings together NHS specialist consultant neurologists, psychologists, GPs and Huntington’s Disease Association experts at innovative quarterly Huntington’s disease clinics. Hosting clinics at Thames House avoids changes in routine and the frustration of long hospital waits. Service users benefit from expert consultant care in a familiar environment.

Life at Thames House

Social activities, leisure interests and hobbies are all part of a healthy, balanced life. At Thames House we support service users to achieve their individual goals and to make choices about how they live their lives, their hobbies and interests and where appropriate, access to education and volunteering.

Outings, including visits to the cinema and the theatre and trips to Blackpool, are always popular. An accessible minibus means transport is always available for socialising and visits. Thames House also welcomes live entertainers and Zoo Lab, who bring exotic therapy animals to visit. Baking, cooking, board games and dominoes are favourite in-house activities. Service users are also supported to go on holiday. Regular service user forums allow people to share their views and develop ideas for future activities as well as commenting on the day-to-day running of their home.

An attractive, spacious garden includes a patio area with space for summer barbecues. Accessible for all, the garden has areas for sitting and relaxing, gardening and planting. Service users enjoy playing football and looking after the pet rabbits.

Family, friends and visitors

Our open door policy means friends and family are welcome to visit at any time and be involved in care planning and reviews. In addition, we hold relative meetings every quarter. We do maintain protected meal times so would ask any professional visitors to contact us to ensure they visit outside of these times.

We encourage everyone to be involved in giving those we look after the best possible quality of life. An ensuite visitor’s bedroom is available for overnight stays.

“I don’t say thank you enough for the wonderful care my relative receives. Your professionalism and caring approach is second to none and I just wanted to let you know how heartfelt you are appreciated.” Relative
